The bard on the ipad

Came across this yesterday while talking to teachers in Guernsey – new apps for the ipad that support learning of Shakespeare texts:

Called Shakespeare In Bits – the app uses a combination of animated scenes, with corresponding scrolling texts. Difficult vocabulary/expressions are highlighted so students can touch the words and they change to comprehensible English! Excellent for Key Stage 3 children studying for SATs. Perhaps not so great for A Level students who ought to be reveling in the idiosyncratic, poetic drama of Shakespeare’s language.

The app also comes with scene synopses, character summaries, plot analyses and much more – all seamlessly available via the touchscreen. Brilliant….
